Urgent: £50,400 needed to help 24 homeless young people move into their first proper home.
Will you donate today to help a homeless young person find a secure place to live?
When a homeless young person comes to live at Centrepoint they are on a journey that will eventually lead them to a normal life. We look after them, help them rebuild their lives, equip them to go out into the world. When that time comes, the person they most need help from is someone like you.
Mia came to live with us a couple of years ago, after being referred to us by social services. She had been on the streets of East London for about a month. She told us she had been subjected to abuse at the hands of her family, and was forced to leave home for her own safety.
You only had to look at her to see how much she needed help.
We gave her a hot meal. Some fresh clothes. A bed. She slept in relative comfort and safety for the first time. We couldn’t do this without the support of people like you.
Continuing with studies
Mia really wanted to continue with her studies. We made sure that she could by assigning a support and development worker – something we do with all of the young people who come to live with us.
From the moment Mia arrived, we were thinking of the day that she would leave. Not because we didn’t want her, but because we wanted to equip her to stand on her own two feet.
Will you donate today so we can help more young people like Mia find a home?
Off the streets...for good
After a couple of years, homeless young people need to find their own accommodation. It’s the final step in the process of building a normal life. It’s also the only way we can find room for other homeless young people. It means that the young people we get off the streets have the best chance of staying off the streets.
For young homeless people at Centrepoint, living on very tight budgets, the prospect of saving for a deposit, the first month’s rent and very basic household goods can be daunting and – without our Rent Support Scheme – it is often impossible.
Will you step in?
Most young people leaving home for the first time get help from their parents. That’s what we’re asking you to do today – to step in for these young people where their parents wouldn’t.
It costs Centrepoint £2,100 to ensure that each homeless young person moves into a safe place they can call home. We aim to help at least 24 young people this year.
Please make a donation today to make this dream possible for one of the 24 homeless young people we aim to help this year.
