Amy's Story
Amy was 16 years old when Centrepoint reached her first.
She had been beaten by five members of her family, including her Dad. It was only when her sports teacher noticed her welts and bruises that anything could be done.
Amy was thrown out of home, with nothing except the clothes she was wearing. She had no money, no food and nowhere to stay. Incredibly, she continued to go to school, often walking two miles on an empty stomach to be there.
Amy was at great risk from the many drug dealers and pimps in the area, but fortunately Centrepoint reached her first and gave her a safe place to stay.
Centrepoint helped Amy to rebuild her life, allowing her to continue her school studies. We helped her learn the basics of cooking and also how to live on a tight budget.
